There is no longer a documentation rpm. Instead to install documentation for Maya 5.0 you must run the script named "installDocs.sh" found in the same directory as this README. installDocs.sh must be run with root privileges. You must also uninstall previous versions of AWCommon and AWCommon-server before installing the included update. Please refer to the UNINSTALLATION Section for information on uninstalling your release. If the license server is just serving licences and running Maya, you only need to install the AWCommon-server-5.3-5.i686.rpm package. Installation To install this software, you can use the 'rpm' program or the UI-based 'gnorpm' program. The instructions in this readme file use 'rpm'. For Example, to install all the required software using the 'rpm' program on a host that will not be a license server, from a root shell type: rpm -i AWCommon-5.3-5.i686.rpm Maya5_0-5.0-18.i686.rpm For Example, to install all the required and optional software using the 'rpm' program on a host that will be a license server, from a root shell type: rpm -i Maya5_0-5.0-18.i686.rpm AWCommon-5.3-5.i686.rpm AWCommon-server-5.3-5.i686.rpm You can also add-on additional packages at any time. For Example, if you later decide that you want to turn a host into a license server you can install the AWCommon-server-5.3-5.i686.rpm packager. From a root shell type: rpm -i AWCommon-server-5.3-5.i686.rpm In addition to the A|W software, the OpenMotif 2.1 runtime library is installed in the Maya "lib" directory during the Maya installation. It is not required to be installed separately. If you want the complete OpenMotif 2.1 runtime, the rpm file can be found in the "support" directory on the Maya 5.0 CD. There may be a file conflict between OpenMotif and Lesstif. Using the --replacefiles option can help solve that issue. rpm -i openmotif-2.1.30-2_ICS.i686.rpm Installing the Maya Shader Library (LINUX) 1. Copy the Shaders from the shaderLibrary directory on the CD to a permanent location in your filesystem. 2. If you would like Maya to automatically find the Library, set the environment variable MAYA_SHADER_LIBRARY_PATH to the directory where you copied the Shader Library in step 1. When you run Maya and open the Hypershade, you will see a Shader Library tab. 3. Alternatively, you can manually create a disk tab using Tabs->Create Tab in Hypershade that points to the location of the library on disk. Uninstalling Maya (LINUX) To uninstall previous versions of Maya5.0. 1) First get a list of the exact Maya and AWCommon packages that you have installed by typing from a root shell: rpm -qa | egrep 'Maya|AWCommon' This will return the name of any installed packages that have Maya or AWCommon in the name. For Example, if you have a previous version of Maya5.0 installed the return from rpm -qa | egrep 'Maya|AWCommon' might look like: Maya5_0-5.0-18.i686 AWCommon-5.3-5.i686 AWCommon-server-5.3-5.i686 Note:Removing the AWCommon package does not remove /var/flexlm and thus will not harm your licenses in /var/flexlm. Note:'rpm -qa' returns truncated package names. It omits the ".i686.rpm" part. As you can see in step 2 below, you can use the 'rpm -e' using these truncated names. 2) Now remove these packages by typing: rpm -e Maya5_0-5.0-18.i686 AWCommon-5.3-5.i686 AWCommon-server-5.3-5.i686 You have now removed your previous version and can proceed with the installation. 3) To uninstall Maya documentation, become root and run: /usr/aw/maya5.0/docs/uninstallDocs.sh
